FTW: It’s Free.

I went to school to enroll today, but when I saw my grades, I was so surprised to see that one of them says INCOMPLETE. It’s for my 3D Modeling class. I immediately looked for my professor and I explained to him the situation. He said that, his computer wasn’t able to read the CD I submitted. He instructed me to send it to him through email and submit a completion form on Monday. Without his subject grade, I believe I did pretty well. My general average is within the 92%-94% bracket. *Gives myself a pat on the back* Good job, Dre!”

Anyway, Lexie pointed me to a website that aims to stop world hunger by playing a simple game. All you have to do is pick the answer that best describes the word. You donate 10 grains of rice per correct answer. If you chose the wrong answer, they will give you an easy word to define next, if you get the word correctly, you will be given a difficult word to define next. Free Rice is the sister site of Poverty.com. Free Rice has two goals:

  1. Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
  2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

Isn’t that a great idea? They have lots of big sponsors to help UN distribute the sacks of rice that all of us contribute, just by playing a simple vocabulary game. We improve our vocabulary skills, we feed the hungry. Everybody wins, right? So why not spend some of your internet time saving the world? It feels really rewarding.

Has anyone heard about the Google Pagerank issue? I thought my website wasn’t affected by it, but when I checked my PR at PPP, from PR4 my blog dropped to PR3. That kinda sucks, I haven’t checked if it affected my blog traffic, but then, as long as my beloved readers still read my posts and comments, then I’m good.

I tried to do some pixel drawing, and I came up with 3 different ones that I seem a bit satisfied to show, so check them out.

Moving On

It’s official. Classes for this semester are finally over! I was able to finish my computer animation final’s piece at 4am Monday morning. It’s a short skit about a boy and a girl. I’ve uploaded it at You Tube. It was created with Flash MX. I’ve been so stressed out, I’ve had no decent sleep. At least now, I can sleep earlier and wake up late!

My friend’s mom died of breast cancer last weekend. The news seemed so sudden. My friend never mentioned anything about his mom. Well, he’s always been very secretive, and kept most things to himself. According to her girlfriend, his mom never told them of the bump she felt on her breasts, until she really felt ill and was rushed to the emergency room last Friday. The doctors said that chemotherapy is out of the question because the radiation will fry her. I don’t really know what to say to him, except that her mom’s soul is in my prayers. I don’t know what it feels like to lose a parent, and I don’t want to experience that any time soon. It must be really hard for a person in this situation to move on. All we can do for him right now is to be there for him.

Anyway, I want everyone who will comment on this entry to ask me a question. Any question that you may have in mind, and I will answer some, if not all, on my next update. Be creative!

Does anyone want a Holiday post card for me this coming December? Just use my contact form and choose “Get a Holiday Postcard” as the subject. Include your full name and complete address. :)

Last School Week

Tomorrow is the schedule for our case study defense. Our topic is the Sales Information System for a company. We are to develop a program that runs in C Language similar to the current program of the company that we have chosen. I tried looking for online education programs that I can check with so that we can make the program work.

It’s a great thing that Lexie’s brother helped us out. He’s really good with programming. He’s actually working on his thesis, but he took time to help us out. This afternoon, we were able to accomplish the flowchart of our proposed program design. It was really hard for us to use our own brains to come up with our own program, since we are not programmers. I was actually annoyed at our professor. He knew that we have other requirements to submit in other subjects, but he gave us barely 2 weeks to work on this case study. Anyway, it’s done. We just have to face him tomorrow for our defense. He shouldn’t accept teaching jobs because he’s not a good teacher.

[Update] We survived and passed the case study defense! No one got a failing mark from our group. Yay! Maybe we can now accept education grants! [/Update]

Booboo with boots

The highlight of this week is, Booboo’s paws are healed. Her paws are more prone to getting blisters, so we bought her dog boots to protect her paws because the pads on her feet were removed, and it will take some time before it goes back to normal. She’s back to her normal self, very sweet and playful; jumping and running around the house. The vet advised that we continue to give her vitamin C to give her immune system a boost.

Check out Inside The Kitchen :)
