Stop Puppy Mills

A week ago, I decided to visit PETA’s website. On the homepage, I noticed a few videos and decided to click the one with Charlize Theron’s thumbnail because I was curious. I also saw the same video on Youtube and watching the investigation of PETA on puppy mills for the second time still made me cry.

What are puppy mills? It is a place where mass dog-breeding occurs. It may sound innocent, but the owners of these puppy mills abuse the dogs. The dogs do not or seldom receive veterinarian care and almost all the dogs suffer from a disease. In this particular video, all the dogs are caged with wired floors and do not have any space for exercise. Most of the time, their food are contaminated and are swarmed with maggots. Some of the dogs become “cage crazy” and spins by itself for hours on end.

It is sad that this thing happening. It may be very hard to stop puppy mills, but if we stop supporting pet stores who are associated with these operations, then maybe, we can avoid this from happening. I am not sure if this is true here in the Philippines, but, even if it is not, I still want a stop to the abuse of animals, especially to dogs.

Be kind to animals! If you really do want a new pet, adopt. Find a breeder, do not buy from pet stores!
