Find Your Web Niche, Get Hosted

I have been running a website since the year 2000, and I have hosted a lot of beginners on the internet for their blogs, fan sites, photo gallery and more. A lot of my hostees have come and gone, mostly because they have found a new niche, their own domain and hosting. Finding the right hosting is quite tedious. Most people use the keywords “cheap web hosting” when they search for their first web host, but are there telltale signs that the cheap web hosting that you chose is good enough?

I found an article explaining how to tell if a web host is bad. First thing that you should do is test their technical support service. When you submit a ticket, take note of how long their response time is and how accurate their solution is for you. Some web hosting service does not hire reliable employees that can answer your specific needs.

Another thing is do a website speed test. If their website loads really slow, you can get the picture on how your website will load, too. For sure, they have loaded up everyone’s web hosting account in one server to reduce costs. This is really bad, especially if you’re planning to have an interactive website. Your web host must at least offer colocation web hosting.

The last thing is do a features test. Check if there are any features that can be abused by another person on the same server, let’s say, an unlimited disk space, where a person can upload anything and everything, which can cause your website to load really slow that drive visitors away. If you want to find the best web hosting provider, you can check out Web Host Rating and see if you can find the web host that best suits your needs.

Remember, cheaper is not always the way to go.
