Ready to Fly

Last Friady, I went to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) with Ryan and my parents to apply for a passport. We left home at 12:30pm and our scheduled time is between 3-4pm. We anticipated a heavy flow of traffic going to Roxas Blvd. because of the Interfaith prayer rally at Makati City, which was a success.

We arrived at the Mall of Asia after an hour and grabbed a bite at Teriyaki Boy. We waited for Ryan to get off work so we can all go to DFA together. His office is right next to the mall. At 3:30pm we were already at DFA where a long line has filed up outside the building. It is a great thing that our neighbor works there. We didn’t have to stand in line outside, he lead us directly to the processing room where we only waited for 10 minutes, and another 10 minutes to pay for the passport fee. We spent an hour and 15 minutes at the auditorium for the verification process because that’s where the line was the longest, but the encoders were efficient and fast.

There were about 500 people inside the auditorium at a time. It sucks that I had to retake my passport picture, well, actually it was a blessing, because I didn’t like the first picture. I think that it is important to have a good passport picture because, well… who wants a bad picture on an ID, let alone, your passport? The passport will be given to us by our neighbor after two weeks. Ryan and I are planning on traveling in Asia first. Hong Kong may be our first destination. We also plan to travel all over the Philippines. I am graduating soon, and that means I can start working and earn extra cash.

New Camera

I need a new camera, not because mine is broken, but because it’s outdated. I currently have Casio Exilim Z-30. It has the coolest features, so I’d probably stick to Casio Exilim, but I want to choose from the latest models. Z-30 only has 3.2MP and 4x optical zoom. I am actually eying the EX-Z1200 with its cool specifications of 12.1MP, 2.8 LCD, face detection/recognition options and high-speed continuous flash shutter. I can do away with rechargeable batteries, since it uses Lithium-Ion batteries.

EX-Z1200

I actually posted my Z-30 at ebay for bidding, but I was upset that someone sent me a message and is asking for a lower bidding price! I took it down and decided to keep the camera for my whole family to use, then I’d invest on another camera for my own.

Starting this month, I am going to save up enough money to upgrade my camera. I am also going to save for a new PC monitor, my current monitor is too small for what I do1. I’ll be done with school this year, and I can’t wait to start working and earn more money! Good luck to me!

Exhausted.

For the past week, I have been experiencing extreme exhaustion from school and my internship. I am in school for 4 days, and 2 days on my internship. I only have a day to rest, and not really rest, because that’s when I do my chores. I am totally exhausted. I can’t even face my blog anymore. Plus, my DSL connection is not working. I am currently blogging in an internet shop at school. It’s not comfortable blogging outside my house. It feels like someone’s looking over my shoulder, sort of like Big Brother.

I am actually more exhausted on my internship. Our boss is French, and most of the time he talks fast, and in circles. I mean, he appointed me as the head of the interns, which is not a good thing, since I am only there twice a week. He wants me to report to him what they are doing, and relay orders. I am in a great pressure, since I can feel that he is a perfectionist.

I want to be doing what I love to do. What worries me the most is that they are planning to hire me after the internship, but not as a graphics designer or a web developer, they want me to be in marketing! Wtf?! I hate sales. I don’t like convincing people that they have to buy something. Besides, I don’t have a marketing background. They should hire someone with a degree in marketing. I know that I have skills and I am confident that I can do them well, but with regards to marketing, I am not confident about that, and I can foresee myself being fried to my ass constantly if they go ahead and stuff me under marketing. As of now, they have no one in there, so it is like they are desperate. But I am NOT desperate to work with them as their marketing analyst. I hate the thought.

I know that in this day and age, most of the people who graduate never get to use the skills they acquired at school, but I want to be one of the lucky ones who get to do it. I know that there are other job opportunities out there. In 3 months time, I will be done with school, and I can’t wait to start another chapter in my life.

The highlight of my week is when Ryan took me to see Enchanted yesterday. It was a fun movie to watch. Left me happy butterflies in my stomach.
