Puerto Galera
Apr 10, 2008 Daily Blurbs
Update: Please read about my stay at Puerto Galera last April 19-20.
Next weekend is my scheduled trip to my favorite beach, Puerto Galera. I’ve been lurking a lot of message boards and I thought I’d make another entry about Puerto Galera. I have noticed that a lot of people are having a hard time booking rooms this peak season because most of the resorts in Puerto Galera do not have their own websites, or the numbers they have published are not working anymore. For those of you who are planning a trip to the beautiful White Beach, Puerto Galera, here are some contact informations that I have gathered.
La Solana Suites and Resort (This is where we’ll stay)
Two minutes away from the beach, approximately 150 meters away from White Beach. Their amenities include Air-conditioned rooms, Cable TV, Hot/Cold Water, Conference Facility, Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi, Canteen, and Tour Packages. I find their rates very affordable. I booked a single room at Php3,000 for a 3days-2nights stay. You can contact Harold at 0916-4838012; or you can view their website and use their contact page, La Solana Suites and Resort.
My stay at La Solana Suites and Resort was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. When we arrived at the beach, Harold and a staff brought us to the resort via their car. The walk from the resort to the beach is about 3-5 minutes, depending on how slow or fast you walk. Our room is by the pool, which is convenient since we can swim anytime until 11pm at night. They have Cafe Amara, which offers home cooked meals with very reasonable prices. click here to read more about my stay at Puerto Galera…
Hollywood Palm Beach Resort
Our original plan is to stay at this new resort. All their rooms are air-conditioned with cable TV and hot/cold water bath. I was able to get a room at Php2,450 for 3 days and 2 nights, but Ryan didn’t like to walk 10-15 minutes to get to the beach. This resort also has a pool and the place is just beautiful. If you don’t mind walking, then this resort is for you. They also offer a 24-hour shuttle service that can bring you to and from the beach. Contact Roger at 0920-294-4143, he’s very accommodating and answers text messages. Visit Hollywood Palm Beach Resort website for more information.
V.M. Beach Resort
This resort was the place we rented the first time I went to Puerto Galera. Their rates are very reasonable and it is by the beach. They have an eatery in front of the beach and their ihaw-ihaw is delicious. You can contact them through their Manila office at 523-4945 and look for Peng, or reach them through their mobile number at 0917-5228298.
Lan-Sei Water Resort
Amenities include air-conditioned rooms with television and Hot/Cold bath, swimming pool, jacuzzi, volleyball, billiards. They offer affordable rates and for bookings check out Lan-Sei Water Resort website, or call 0917-5301192.
Apartelle de Francesca
They don’t have their rates published on the internet, but according to the people who’ve been there, their rates are quite affordable. They also offer tour packages that include meals. For bookings contact Dra. Juliet Axalan - Mendoza at 09167373086 or 043-7430043. Visit Apartelle de Francesca website for more information.
Coco Beach Island Resort
This resort have 96 rooms, 4 restaurants, kid’s playground, shopping arcade, beauty parlor, an internet cafe and more. Their rates are quite pricey, since they are Class AAA resort in Puerto Galera. For bookings go to Coco Beach Island Resort website, or call Manila office at (+63) 2 521-5260 or (+63) 2 526-4594; via mobile phone at (+63) 919 5400000 or 919 5401698.
HSL Beach Resort
Their native cottages is truly a sight. This resort is by the beach and the staff are very accommodating. You can cook your own meals because the staff allows their tenants to have a free access to the kitchen. Contact Miss Marita at 09266421625 for bookings.

I am going to check out more resorts when we get there on April 19-21. I am probably going to update this page for everyone’s future reference. I am only going to add resorts that I find beautiful. A little bit of a warning, stay away from Dreamwave Hotel, last year there were instances of robbery from different rooms, it could be an inside job. Do not even try booking a room at Sheryll’s Inn, they tend to charge you for everything they could think of plus, the owner is rude.
Basically, going to Puerto Galera is quite cheap. If you have Php3000 and you have at least 3 friends with you, then you’ll survive and enjoy a really good vacation in the white sands of Puerto Galera.
DISCLAIMER: I am in no connection to any of the resorts I’ve listed here. I am merely a tourist who looks for good accommodations in White Beach, Puerto Galera, Mindoro Philippines.

Find A Ride

My sister and I will probably work in the same city. Being that I don’t know how to drive, she’s the one who’s going to purchase a car. Now, getting a new car is really expensive, so my dad decided to check out used cars. It is quite difficult to buy new cars because you are not really sure if what you are getting is really worth your money.
Our van was used when my dad bought it. He got it last 2003 and fortunately it still runs and is in good shape. My dad has a keen eye when it comes to purchasing cars or any kind of electronic equipments. He meticulously checks for dents or damages that might be present. He also likes to do test drives and listen for strange sounds on the engine.
Car maintenance can be very expensive, too, so getting a used car can sometimes be very scary. It is really important to check the background of the dealership that you are purchasing the car from. If you are in the UK, you can find used cars at BuyYourCar.co.uk, and they give you the best advice on which car to purchase and you can be sure that you are not scammed. They offer tips on how to choose the right car for you.
