Chaotic

I fell asleep at 3am yesterday. I was working on some stuff on my computer that’s why I didn’t notice the time. It’s actually Holy Week1. Anyway, at 8am yesterday, my mom woke me up and told me that Booboo wasn’t eating, doesn’t want to eat and was very lethargic. She also vomited about three times. It took a minute before reality sank in. I immediately went downstairs, and looked for her.

She usually waits for me at the foot of the stairs when she hears my footsteps from my room. Yesterday, she didn’t wait for me. I found her below the dining table, she managed to be really sweet and rubbed her head against me when I picked her up. I tried to show her the food bowl and see if she’ll eat, but she wouldn’t. She didn’t even smell it!

My mom told me that I was like a mother to a baby, because even if I was really sleepy and hadn’t had enough sleep yet, I still got up just to check on Booboo. I can’t help it. I love my dog!

I thought I’d bring her out for a walk. I opened the door and let her follow me to our gate. When I opened the gate, I got worried when she didn’t even try to run past me. She would usually run really fast and have me run after her, but yesterday was different. She just walked out slowly.

Outside, she just walked and sniffed and walked and sniffed. It seems like she was looking for something in the grass. I actually found myself crying because of her. I mean, we just lost 2 dogs, so I was scared. Really scared.

It started to drizzle a bit so I carried her inside. I tried to make her eat again, but it was no use. I tried to call the numbers of the veterinarians that I have talked to but only one answered my call. I already expected that the clinics would be closed until Saturday, but thankfully, a long time client dropped by the clinic because her dog is sick, too. The vet’s assistant told me that if I wanted to bring my dog in, I had to hurry because the vet is not going to stay in the clinic very long.

I didn’t waste time. I changed clothes, woke up my sister. My dad drove us to the clinic. Booboo was a bit scared. It’s been a while since she traveled. I think she felt nauseas. I held her so she wouldn’t be too scared.

When we got to the clinic, the assistant was already outside waiting for us. He weighed her, and she now weighs 5.5lbs from 3lbs last month. The vet gave her antibiotic shots and vitamins. She also took stool samples. She actually recommended that Booboo stayed overnight for observation, but I don’t think I’ll bring her back there… She also gave her a deworming tablet.

I am a bit surprised that the vet didn’t look or act friendly to us or Booboo. I mean, she’s supposed to be an animal lover, right? She was cold and seemed like something was stuck in her @ss. Pfft.

Anyhow, when we got home, I immediately gave Booboo the water therapy the vet advised us to do. We have to put this water soluble powder in her water to rehydrate and give her energy. After 30 minutes, she just slept. We didn’t disturb her. I think it was the effect of the antibiotic that’s why she slept for a while.

By lunch, she was able to eat something. She was energized somehow, and jumped up the couch and lay next to my mom. That was a good sign. But, she would then be drowsy again. She mostly slept for the whole day, but at least she’s eating and the vomiting stopped.

I don’t know what I’d do if something bad happened to Booboo. I think I’d be very sad and depressed for a long time. I just hope that she’d be back to her normal self soon.

Rest In Peace: Tutu

It has happened again. One of our dogs died yesterday afternoon. Well, Tutu is old. But I think that she got depressed due to the loss of her son who passed away a few weeks back. I mean, she was her normal self on the day that Chipipo died, but after a week, she just stopped eating and barking. I told my dad that we should take her to the vet and have her checked, but he said that it’s just a waste of money since that dog is a mongrel 1. My mom and cousin dug a hole from the backyard to bury her. It’s really sad to lose a pet, but she’s old, I guess it’s just her time.
