It’s Tuesday

The year is going OK, so far. School started last week and I wasn’t able to go on the first day because I was at the hospital to see my uncle. He’s ok now. Tuesday last week, I went to Ryan’s home and we spent the afternoon together. First we met at the mall near their place and we ate lunch there. When we got to their place, his grandma and cousins were sleeping. So, we went to his room and we watched a DVD movie. We saw Here On Earth, starring Josh Hartnett, Leelee Sobieski and Chris Klein. Then we just stuck to MTV and watched “Pimp My Ride” and “I Wanna Be YOU”.

Then we went out to buy some snacks. We bought 5 Lucky Me pancit canton and 1.5L Coke. When we got back, his 2 younger cousins came home from school. Everyone was downstairs, and 2 of his aunts and uncle came to visit. We cooked the pancit canton in the kitchen and had the others eat with us, too. After the afternoon snack, I had to go home. His place is almost 2 hours away, and I didn’t want to go home late.

That night, I decided to change the theme on my message board, The Wickeds MB. I made a yellow version and a light version, because some people access them from work and school. I think the theme looks OK, but I still want to make 2 more, if I have more time and I am not too lazy. :P

At lunch, I cooked chicken barbeque. Let me share a little of my secret when I cook it. I actually boil it first with soysauce, a little sugar and calamnsi. After simmering them for 15 minutes, I marinade them for 10minutes in a barbeque sauce with an egg. Then I fry ‘em. :yum:

I am almost done with the book I am currently reading. It’s Neil Geiman’s Anansi Boys. It’s one of the books that I liked. I think I have to re-read it, because I think I was half-asleep while reading the other chapters. I usually read the book before I go to sleep. The next up will be The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Ryan said that it’s a good book and there’s a lesson in the end. I can’t wait to read it.

I hope the week fly fast! I want it to be Saturday already because Ryan and I will watch “Eragon”. Weeeeee!

I just got a call from a guy named, Theo. He’s a friend of my old colleague. He was offering me a job. Unfortunately, I can’t take it since I am in school and I know that it’s just not possible. He said that my colleague, Rhia, highly recommended me for the job because according to her, I’ve got great leadership potential. Wow! I guess I left quite an impression on her. :nerd:

It’s A Disguise, Like A Blessing.

Yesterday morning I woke up when I received 3 text messages. It all came from my old friend, who was my best friend when she was still living near me. I was a bit shocked with her news. She informed me that she wrote me a letter last year but wasn’t able to mail it. I understand that she’s got a busy schedule, since she’s studying medicine. Anyway, she said that she wanted to admit something to me.

She got back with her old boyfriend of 7 years last July, who, at some point, treated her badly. That wasn’t the shocking part for me. They got back together about 5 months ago and now, she’s 5 months pregnant! I can understand that maybe they’re very much in love and is happy about the news. But more bad news came my way.

The guy doesn’t want to settle down. She says she can understand the situation and that she can’t really force him to do it. I understand that, but, she continued by saying that he boarded a ship because he started working as a seaman. So, yeah, he left her. I thought that he was doing this for her and the baby. But she continued again by saying that they are in a “cool-off” situation. :grr:

She’s alone carrying the baby and the man who is also responsible for it is somewhere so far from her. She says they don’t even talk, he doesn’t call, and when she sends messages, it takes a long time before he responds. I mean, hello?, it’s 2007 for crying out loud! They both carry cellphones!

I wish I could be there for her, but she’s in the province. All I can do is send her text messages and email her. She hasn’t replied yet, though. I wondered how her family took the news, and if they’re with her right now, or at least one of her siblings.

I know that this is not all a negative thing. She mentioned that she went for an ultrasound last month and the doctor said that it could be a boy  Of course, I can sense the excitement from her, and I couldn’t help but be happy about it as well. It’s not the fault of the soon-to-be born child that his dad is an a-hole for leaving them behind.

I wish that my friend gets all the strength that she needs. I know she’s got new friends there, but, she wouldn’t be expressing her emotions like that to me if she didn’t need my help and support. I hope and I will continue to pray that she will get through this with a clear mind and an unbroken spirit. She’s got to be strong for her baby.

As a friend, I will continue to be there for her, even if it’s just by asking how she’s doing and constantly communicating with her, specially now that she needs all the support she can get. Her baby will be a blessing. I know God’s got good plans for her and her baby.

Thank God It’s Friday!

It’s 2007.

Another year. What’s new? I tried to recall what happened last year, all I can remember is that I spent it with my family.

New Year’s Eve was spent at my aunt’s house, a block from ours. We had a family dinner first in our home. My sister’s boyfriend was with us. My dad asked why Ryan didn’t come, I just said that he’s with his family. There were 8 wine glasses that my mom prepared, and 1 of them was left in the cupboard because it was supposed to be for Ryan..

Anyway, in my aunt’s house, there were lots of food and drinks. I didn’t eat anything there, I just had glasses of wine. Yes, glasses. I didn’t get drunk, though. As usual, there were fireworks all over our subdivision. My cousin, Tom, was the one who lighted a dozen fountain firecracker. We were all outside and we watched the beautiful fireworks display from our rich neighbors. :P

We played games, like “newspaper dance”, “stop dance”, “bring me” and “longest line”. My aunt threw 5-peso coins in the air for us to take. All of us were happily scuttling for the coins. I only got a hundred-ten. Not bad.

The party ended at 2am. We all went home to rest, but I didn’t. I was busy making other plans, plans that didn’t happen. Well, a few days before Sunday, Dyan asked me if I wanted to go with her and Glenn to Laguna. I said “No.” because Ryan said, “You’re not spending New Year’s eve with me and you’re spending it with someone else?” So yes, I declined, knowing that Ryan would go to work at 3:30am today, Jan 1. BUT 2 hours before his shift, he said that he won’t go to work anymore. I thought, What if Glenn picks him up from where he is and drops him off here? So we made plans. Then, I called him on his cellphone and everything just became complicated. The ending? The plan didn’t push through and I slept when the sun was already peeping from the horizon.
