I Survived A Storm
Sep 29, 2006 Daily Blurbs
I thought I was dreaming inside a dream. I awoke with the sounds of the window blinds rhythmically tapping the edge of my bed. Winds enter the room from the window with great strength and power. The paper from the study table is now found on the floor. I noticed that the electric fan is no longer working, but I still feel so cold. I snuggled against my pillows and pulled my comforter up to my neck. I heard my mom telling my brother to go upstairs to get something. I got the information from him that a typhoon called Millenio hit the country. The electricity is out and our phone is not working. Great, I groaned to myself. I didn’t make a move to get off bed. I just lay there for the longest time.
I tried lots of times to contact Ryan. The people in their house are weird. Well, one of them is. I called and asked for him and she said, ‘Isn’t it raining there?’ I said yes. Then she replied with, ‘The winds are so strong here, just call later.’ I was like, ‘WTF?’ I don’t see the connection. If the winds were so strong, it doesn’t mean Ryan can’t talk to me, right? Oh well. An hour later, Ryan text messaged me and told me that their phone is not working anymore and there is no electricity in their place. The duhat tree from their neighbor fell onto a power line.
I accompanied my dad to circle our subdivision. A lot of the trees have been removed from its roots by the typhoon’s strong winds. A lot of debris can be found on the streets. A tree fell on a car. I wonder if they have a car insurance. We were lucky that the tree from the back of our house didn’t give us any trouble. We have a huge mango tree from the backyard, and a huge Camachile tree further back. It’s a good thing that my dad had them (maintenance crew) trim the Camachile tree before the typhoon arrived in the Philippines. I saw the biggest branch cut off from it when we passed by the street at the back of our house.
It’s unfortunate for some people who lost their houses from the floods. We have a battery operated radio so we were able to get updates. I heard that a tree fell on an old woman, it’s a good thing that there were people who helped her right away. Some people were stuck in their roofs in Cavite. A mother called the radio station to inform the authorities that her 4-year-old kid and nieces with their help is stuck in their roof and was not responding to calls anymore. She was crying desperately for help. I didn’t get an update on that anymore. I just hope they’re all safe.

A Rundown
Sep 26, 2006 Daily Blurbs, School
I am back and feeling a lot better! :yum:
Anyway, school has been hectic for me the past week, being it the pre-finals weeks, so I was doing readings from my notes and drawing a portrait for my Basic Drawing and Drafting (BASDRAW) class. I drew Victor Basa, and painted an island for the other part of the exam. In my NSTP class, I believe I didn’t get a high enough grade because I didn’t study much for it because I have another exam to study for, which is a major subject, BASICON. Unfortunately, that day (Thursday), our professor didn’t bother showing up to inform us that the exam was moved to Monday.
The next day, of course, as expected we did nothing. My Color Theory professor is just too lazy on Fridays. I didn’t even bother bringing my water color. My classmates and I just talked among ourselves. After the class, I went to an internet cafe because I have to wait for an hour for the school newspaper meeting. Yep, I was accepted for the school newspaper. We don’t have any positions yet because the adviser said that he’d assign us to where he sees us fit.
That same day, Ryan and I met at (Kentucky Fried Chicken) KFC near my school. I was with my 2 classmates, Niño and Lexie. We had lunch at KFC. By 1:30pm, Ryan and I headed to our house so I could change to go to the mall. We went to Sta. Lucia East Mall and looked for an MMC for his cellphone. We compared prices but ended up buying nothing. Then we bought my materials for BASDRAW, 2 illustration boards, charcoal pencil and new paint brushes. He also bought the Harry Potter book 6. So I found out something new about him that day, he’s a fan of HP and has read the first 5 books. Wow. :nerd:
Before we went back to our house, we bought a half-dozen Yummy Vanilla from Go Nuts Donuts. Yey!
In our house, I started working on my drawing. Ryan aslo bought me the September issue of Cosmo mag, and attached to it is a booklet of the 2006 Bachelors. Victor Basa is one of the centerfolds, so that’s where I based my drawing. While I was working on my drawing, Ryan was chatting away with my mom, sisters and brother. My dad wasn’t home. I am glad that they are all getting along.
That same day, Friday, I found out that our phone is not working. When you pick up the receiver, you’ll just hear a busy tone. Pfft. Saturday passed without Ryan and I hogging the phone for hours. We just settled for a little bit of air time from our cellphones. Until now, our phone is not working so I don’t have internet access at home. I am on dial-up, waahhh
Ryan and I met last Sunday, too. It’s our habit now to hear mass on Sundays. He was late for an hour, crap. So I waited for him at Starbucks. I bought a magazine before I ordered, so I have something to do while waiting. When he arrived, we ate lunch at Burger King, then did a little window shopping. After which, we went to SM Bicutan to check out the movie schedule (ended up not watching). Then we headed to church for the 4:15pm mass. After the mass, we just surfed the net at Netopia.
By 7pm, we went to the grocery and bought roast chicken to bring to their house for dinner. Thirty minutes later, we were seated at their dining area. His aunt was asking too many questions about me, where I work (if I am), I said I am still in school. You know? Those typical “I-am-scrutinizing-your-bf/gf-questions” Lol. He said that his aunt likes me. That’s great!
He also introduced me to one of his friends. His name is Dan and he is nice. He talked to me about stuff, he’s very friendly. After meeting him, Ryan accompanied me home. I told him to just drop me off the bus station but he wouldn’t let me go home alone. It was 9pm then. He made sure I was safe, so he accompanied me until I was inside our house.
My mom told me this morning that he was surprised that I chose Ryan to be my boyfriend. She says she’s used to seeing pretty boys as my date or boyfriends. I told her that Ryan is different, and he is a pretty boy for me. My mom says he looks alright, but he’s just not the typical guy I would choose. I guess, I am done with the uber pretty boys with bad attitudes. My mom also said that she sees that Ryan is very responsible. That’s super pogi points for Ryan. Yey:P
I am missing him badly. Having no phone sucks!
Despair.nu members, I am sorry if I comment late…. I have no internet access at home! I will comment back, promise!

No Seafood For Me
Sep 18, 2006 Daily Blurbs, School
Saturday afternoon was great. Ryan and I met by 3pm at Glorietta 4 and watched You, Me and Dupree. We both loved the movie. It’s not just one of those comedy movies you’ve seen, there is actually a lesson involved. I recommend for everyone to see it.
After the movie, we were off to Cavite, his friend Myda’s house. She was the one celebrating the birthday. Her actual birthday is the 19th. We arrived at SM Bacoor at 7pm, and we had to wait for the others too. We got to her place at 7:45pm. We were greeted by loud singing from some of her visitors. Myda rented a videoke machine. The party was great. The people were cool and friendly. Ryan’s friends from work were there, too. By 3am, I was beat. I excused myself from them while Myda let me snooze on their sofa. Everyone was in the garage, so no one would disturb me there. I can hear Ryan being rowdy that time. Everyone took turn singing, but every time a song came up and he likes it, he would pester the person and say ‘Hey, that’s my song!’ Leaving everyone laughing.
At 4:45am, everyone called it a night. Or day! Duh.
By 8:30am the next day, I woke up. My stomach was aching pretty badly. It felt that my stomach was in churning knots of painful of all the painful things! I got off bed and ran to the restroom. Man, that’s the worst case of diarrhea ever, I thought. By noon, I was experiencing chills. I was under 2 blankets and a comforter. I thought it was just really cold, but then, I couldn’t get up from bed. I asked my brother to touch my forehead. He said I felt hot, so he took the thermometer and gave it to me. I checked my temperature, and I was burning up at 38.8. I sent a text message to my classmate and told her I won’t make it to school today.
Ryan was so worried about me because 2 others from the party were hospitalized. What we experienced is slight food poisoning from the oyster we ate from the party. I am lucky my dad knew what to do. My mom also called my cousin’s husband, who is a doctor, and asked what medicine to give me. I didn’t sleep well last night, though. I kept on waking up every hour sweating buckets. My head felt so heavy and my back aches so badly from being in bed for the longest period I can imagine. My mom was there beside me to monitor my fever. I slept in their room last night. I woke up at 9am feeling so tired. My fever was gone, but I feel like my body is covered with wet blankets. I felt so heavy.
Ryan was non-stop text messaging and calling me because he was afraid I’d get worse. I told him not to come here anymore, but he did. At least I didn’t have mesothelioma.
